Sailing as Odysseus
The Lefkas area includes ten big and smaller islands situated at the west coast of Greece. In the North lies popular Corfu and in the South the turtle island Zakynthos. In between are islands with famous names such as: Lefkas, Kefalonia (Captain Correlli) and Ithaca (birthplace of Odysseus).
It’s a varied and sheltered sailing area with picturesque harbours, large and small inlets. Extended sailing trips can be made but not at all necessary because harbours are plentiful so you can anchor in a different harbour every evening. If you are surprised by storm or a ruff sea during you sailing trip shelter is always near. With other words: satisfaction for every sailors wish.

Clear and deep blue
The sea is clear and deep blue. Plenty of sunshine and well into the afternoon the wind speed will reach a maximum 5 Beaufort. Dolphins and turtles can be seen frequently, right next or in front of you ship. The inlets are ideal for scuba-diving and the (pebble) beaches have been tested and the outcome is: clean to very clean.
Food and drink
In all harbours good food and drink can be found. The Greek cuisine is dominant but a lot of tavern’s serve delicious pasta’s and pizza’s. Fish is on nearly all the menu’s. it’s a bit more expensive than meat dishes. Lobster and prawns are cheaper than in Holland. Every restaurant has it’s own specialty. In Ephemia for instance chocolate mousse is served with zabaione-sauce. A lot of sailors detour for this specialty. Greek wine is delicious. House wine is normally good but if you want to be sure to get a reasonably priced quality wine order a Nemea, Naoussa, Robolla or Makedonikos wine.
